I recommend you scanning all the channels first, and then choose the one that matches up with your style and your current English level.

Anyway, enjoy learning English history and culture, British accent as well as English grammar!

1. Learn English with Gill

The first one I’m featuring here is Gill’s “Learn English with Gill”.

She is one of the tutors from “engVid” that is providing free online English Lessons in the UK, and I personally believe her accent is the typical one that we generally imagine when it comes “English accent”.

She chooses the words very carefully and speaks slowly so that her viewer can easily understand what she is saying.

As you watch her video clips, you will often see her explaining UK’s political matters as well as English speaking, so this is one of the good points.

She is also explaining the difference between English pronunciation and American’s and the background of English culture.

She gives her lessons with unhurried tempo, so you can learn relaxedly.

I recommend her channel for those who are just beginning to learn British English.

2. English Speaking Success

OK. The next recommended YouTube channel is this Keith’s “English Speaking Success.”

He’s also nice and he gives his lessons really clearly.

He is especially supporting those who aim to take IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam and has posted a lot of video clips that are related to this matter, so if you are planning to the exam in the future, his channel is must-watch.

(Having watched a few of his videos after a while, I felt like taking IELTS exam just for the purpose of improving some suspicious areas of my English with his lessons… )

It’s not too much to say that his YouTube channel is especially established for conquering IELTS exam.

However, because his teaching manner is very courteous and clear, it will be of your great benefit to follow his channel even if you are not interested in IELTS.

3. Learn English with Papa Teach Me

The Channel is presented by “Aly Williams” who were born in London.

To be honest, I only learned about his channel recently, and his English accent is actually the one I am eager to acquire.

The content of his video clips is a full of “how to speak like him” which I have been learning through self-study by picking this and that from everywhere, so I’m like…

Gurrrr! If only I had known his channel earlier!!!

Anyway, therefore…

If you would like to learn British English in a London accent, you are in the right place.

I personally have got an impression of some kind of “geezer-ness” with his accent but according to Aly, his accent is…

His accent is neither posh nor Cockney, but just a boring standard London accent.

But the reason why I can sense an element of “geezer-ness” in a standard London accent compared to other British accents is probably because it’s a blend of original “geezer-smelling” Cockney accent and the other British accents that were brought in from several regions in the UK.

His video clips are a full of sense of humour and is proceeded at a good pace, so you’ll never get tired of watching them.

However, I have to say that the speed of his talking might be slightly fast for the beginners to catch his words.

Anyway, I strongly recommend his YouTube channel for those who would like to learn standard London accent.

4. English with Lucy

And here is Lucy’s “English with Lucy”, as everyone might already know!

“Good-looking”, “cheerful” and “blonde”… It’s just simply difficult to find an element that can make her channel unpopular. w

However, if you watch any of her video clips for a few minutes, you will instantly see that her popularity is not due to her appearance.

She is a pro English teacher.

There is no chance to cut in for every occasion with the way she teaches! w

She has posted a wide variety of video clips, therefore if you have some specific area where you are concerned about your English grammar, I’m sure you will find the one to watch within her channel.

However, her talking speed is relatively fast, so if you are a total beginner you might find it difficult to keep up with…

5. Tony’s British English

Finally, it’s “Tony’s British English”.

His channel has got a different vibe from the other four.

He is a super pro-Japanese and speaks Japanese now and then.

(I assume that his wife is Japanese???)

It is mentioned that he has got more than 30 years of career with teaching English, but I personally doubt that he used to be an actor at some point.

Because of his unique and pro-Japan character, I’m sure you will become a fan of him straightaway.

Besides, he speaks fairly slowly and also clearly so that anybody can understand his English easily, therefore his channel is ideal for beginners.

Another good point of his channel is that he walks about London’s famous spots as he explains English culture, so it’s visually enjoyable, too.

Basically, it’s like you learn British English as you join in Tony’s virtuall London guided tour.

Tony’s channel is, I believe, the most suitable for those who have never visited Britain before to watch so that they can get an idea of how the country looks like as well as learning British English.

Anyway, above mentioned five YouTube channels are the ones I strongly recommend for learning British English.

I hope you have found your favourite among these.
